Bubble tea, also known as Boba tea is a cold milk tea based drink with large tapioca pearls at the bottom. The most popular bubble tea flavours are the regular milk tea bubble tea, taro, coconut, and honeydew. Bubble tea is actually very easy to achieve at home, you can find large tapioca pearls at most Asian supermarkets, and is inexpensive to make. I’m excited for summer, I have been wanting to make this recipe since the winter! I absolutely love milk tea, especially the ones from Asia. When I was in Hong Kong I had milk tea everyday, It is creamy with a strong black tea flavour.
Cook the tapioca pearls according to the directions on the package.
Boil the water in a large pot and add all of the tea bags. Boil for about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and add the sweetened condensed milk, adding a little at a time until you achieve the sweetness that you want. Set aside and allow to cool. This can be made the night before and let chill in the fridge.
Put the tapioca pearls in a tall glass and add the milk tea. You can also add ice if you like. Serve with a large straw. Enjoy!
